Chess is fascinating. I listened to the audiobook of The Queen's Gambit earlier this year, having loved the TV show (both so good!) and the film Queen of Katwe (plus the musical, obv). And Ali Hazelwood wrote a brilliant YA novel, Check & Mate, about teenage players, which is utterly engrossing.

I went to a trade Christmas show last month which had a beautiful chess set where you could play against an AI, and it would move the pieces for you. About Β£400 and looked like magic. (There is no point in my doing this; my brother and I spent years playing to check without realising.)
