I'll cut to the chase: I know I've basically vanished for the past 3+ months as I've been dealing with a stack of physical, mental, and emotional challenges hitting me simultaneously. There's also something I did that I want to own plainly and openly

At AC 2026 this year, I made someone uncomfortable with a hug and physical contact that went further than it should have. They reported it to con safety, which is the right thing to do.

It's been handled through the con and HR, and I've apologised directly; beyond this I won't be sharing details or anything that can identify them. That's their call to make, so please don't try speculating or digging on who it might be.

What I did want to talk about in detail is, if nothing else, a reminder that your online presence, namely if you're a fandom artist, musician, writer, or any other creative, colours every interaction you have. Indeed it's no secret I do want to just be treated as some guy who knows how to >>

make weird stuff that interests me and can post onto the internet, but the people who meet me won't always be seeing me like that. You need to be aware of that too, and this served as a regrettable but otherwise necessary reminder

Asking first is important, but hearing "yes" at the start isn't a yes to everything that comes after, and especially in situations like this there can be power dynamics that change how people might behave around you, not to mention that everyone's comfort level and expectations are different.

It's not your fault nor something you might have ever wanted, but it is still your problem and responsibility, and still something that needs to be owned
