Starting Veep today is so weird because almost all the jokes are about how worried they are about respectability politics, making gaffes and getting fucked over by the media.

I guess they hide what party they actually are but they could never be republicans. At least not today.

They're obviously Democrats but they never say it. The last two seasons overlap with the Trump era (2017 & 2019) which is unfortunately impossible to parody.
