Learned today about the 'Kiss-O'-Death' packet in the NTP spec. Had to be implemented because at one point 750,000 routers were manufactured with a faulty NTP impl that sent requests every second. What's funny is that when we invaded Iraq in 2003, all their corp/gov Bay Networks equipment (the parent of Netgear) hadn't seen a remediation for it. I was the scribe for a command briefing and suddenly the folks on lectern were like "how does a 3H0x1 know enough to correct an oversimplification?"
