Look at the shabby state and increasingly authoritarian trajectory of the country and ask yourself if we can endure 2 more years of a lawless Trump administration wreaking havoc with no check from Congress, then vote accordingly. This is not the time for a protest vote or purity politics.

I dunno, Aaron. If we don't exercise some care in how we vote, we might vote in the same sort of people who will "look forward, not back" and try to restore a status quo that wasn't working in the first place... we'll face another go-round of this fash garbage.

This is also bad, but the answer simply cannot be fascism. If that’s the outcome of one’s proposed solutions, one has to go back to the drawing board. Voting dem doesn’t mean we rest peacefully thinking we’ve solved things. If it helps, think of the vote as one against fascism, not FOR the dems.

Every Democrat that's running on taking rights away from trans people, calling women "biological men", etc. Capitulating to Republican framing on whether trans people should keep having the same rights they've had vs we should lose some rights

a vote for dems isn't a vote against fascism though. it's a vote for slightly less fascism or for fascism slightly later. it is only to dems' benefit that we are threatened with as much fascism as possible every voting cycle so that all dems have to do is convince people they are not quite as bad

sure. we want a situation in which the people who get elected are the ones with good policies. we achieve that by making good policies be a requirement for getting votes, which can be established by giving out votes to people with good policies. occasionally that can even be democrats

for the purpose of achieving a system of leadership with good policies, this would work relatively immediately if most people agreed to use this strategy. contrarily, granting dems votes automatically just because another party's policies are even worse will never ever work in a million years
