I think she’s probably afraid because if she blows up the J6 slush fund she will likely need security for the rest of her life. Even so, that’s no excuse for allowing Blanche to claim the case settled (and to modify the fake settlement).

To the degree that you're agreeing to just do something, you totally can... as long as you have the authority to do the thing(s) you're agreeing to do. But the entire reason Trump did this charade is that he doesn't have that authority, so yeah, this should not be allowed to hold.

The argument is that the court has inherent authority to investigate a fraud perpetrated against it. The motion styles the movants as amici providing guidance about the court’s legal authority, not necessarily as a plaintiff with standing to sue. We’ll see what the judge thinks about that
