Texan resident here. I moved around the state quite a bit during my childhood and I remember being in the 5th grade and learning how behind that district my previous one was. By no means was the previous district was great (it was bad), but it was shocking to see that my new classmates at my new

school were barely going over things that I had learned at the end of the 3rd grade. They were all behind academically in all four core subjects. I had to help my teachers explain these things to my classmates in a way they could understand. We were halfway through the school year when we found out

So I actually am a teacher(sorta); I work at a preschool. 70% of what we do is trying to get kids to follow the rules and listen to us. Sure, we teach, but I’m telling kids to behave than anything. It’s a huge problem.
