My husband has said the same thing. "The prices of yesteryear are gone forever." I have to get it around my head that ground beef at $3.99 a pound is a bargain. #TrumpInflation is not going to change much. www.washingtonpost.com/business/202...

washingtonpost.comVoters angry about high prices may get little relief from the next CongressEven if Democrats win control of Congress on Nov. 3, lawmakers can do little about prices that are uncomfortably high -- and will stay that way even as the rate of inflation is expected to slow.

The quiet way "bargain" keeps getting redefined downward is the part that stings most.

When I was first married I remember paying $.25 A pound for ground beef. Also for a can of tuna. We survived on tuna and ground beef in those days.

A quarter a pound, and tuna as the survival menu. Funny how the tight-year meals become the fond ones.

True, I made tuna patties, tuna pasta salad and of course Tuna casserole. These are still on our menu as my husband's favorites.
