Is there an example of using this for spatial joins or to speed up spatial predicates (esp. via Python wrapper)? I saw mention in the docs that it was being used in geoarrow-rs for that, but couldn't easily find an example/tests/implementation. Is this in the in-progress spatial-join branch?

I wrote those docs a little while ago and I was a bit optimistic. 😅 I started the spatial-join branch but then put that on hold to do some major architectural overhauls of the geoarrow-rs codebase. It's not used in prod yet today to do actual spatial joins, but it's a top priority.

Ultimately I'd like to be able to compare to Shapely's STRtree + predicate query function, which is one of my favorite things in Shapely, and I use it all the time.

I think the geo-index tree_join function should be similar to _geom_predicate_query. Except that for now it only does box intersections across the two trees github.com/geopandas/ge...
