When Bob Bauer and David French balked at the idea of expanding the Supreme Court, @deadcarl.bsky.social recognized it for what it was: not analytical rigor but a lack of what Clausewitz called the “moral courage” required to meet our moment. www.liberalcurrents.com/clausewitz-a...

David French is happy the court has delivered some theocratic wins, and has repeatedly rationalized those victories in spite of the unethical, norm-busting way McConnell rigged the court’s current membership.

To choose not to act out of fear that one’s opponent will retaliate, and to thus leave the status quo in their favor to one’s detriment, truly does demonstrate a lack of moral courage. #ExpandTheCourt

His head in the sand view of the SC and in the broader context within the authoritarian movement has me thinking he is more of an apologist. There was a lot riding on the originalists delivering on conservative goals only for it to be twisted into attacking our form of government.

David French will tell you how much he hates the Iranian regime. And he will cite the human wave attacks during the Iran Iraq war as proof the iran govt cares nothing for its ppl As if the American govt didn’t send 19 year-old boys up the same freaking hill in Vietnam in 66, 67, 68, 69, 70 and 71

The point is that David French sees what he wants to see. And only has the courage of his convictions for the stuff that already fits into his moral compliance. Anything outside of it is anathema
