the "The products aren't the business" quote being paraded around from the teenage engineering interview is stupid ragebait that's obviously been taken out of context. they've always been a design company, that's what that quote was referring to. their music hardware business was a happy accident.

it sucks to see them exit the space because they've made a lot of very compelling things (there still is not a single feature complete op-1 competitor in that form factor) but they've always been a design company first and foremost.
