I'm from Scotland, the bbc can do that whole fucking off speech as far as I'm concerned. First thing that should happen on day one of independence will be to shut it down & withdraw its licence to broadcast. A vile, right-wing anti-scottish colonial mindset permeates its every breath.

As I'd turned off all communications from the BBC on my account, and they still emailed me essentially a marketing survey, they've been reported to the ICO for spam.

BBC news editorial policy often reflects the government of the day + has definitely shown bias against Scottish independence under Tories, but news is not the only function of the BBC. Personally think we would lose so much of value if the BBC was shut down, but appreciate your feelings are strong.

Adam, I'm not willing to abandon one of the greatest cultural assets that Britain has ever had simply because I object to some of the editorial control of news. The "Defund the BBC" movement is a RW-funded attempt to destroy it because of perceptions of LW bias. I think we should oppose that.

Right wingers see the the BBC as a left-wing "woke" organisation and can point to countless examples that support their view, especially regarding Brexit. If you are a Green, why would you want to shut down an organisation that has persistently raised public awareness of the climate crisis?

Had my say. The questions are simplistic and unhelpful - it’s not about how much or little, it’s about quality and editorial approach. The final comment box is the only one that really matters.
