1/3 I couldn't decide on a tech stack for the backend of a side project. It was between Rust and TypeScript/Deno. Rust would be more performant, but TS would have better library support for web stuff. I ended up building a basic service in both so I could compare.

2/3 Deno responded in ~30ms and Rust took ~20ms (--release). Under some load Deno would use 100-200MB or RAM, 10% CPU while Rust held steady at just under 10MB and about 7%. Not a huge difference, so I had to decide if the productivity loss was worth it.

3/3 In the end I picked Rust. I want to try and be more mindful of limited resources. It's easy to be lazy and wasteful, but I want to challenge myself to do more with less. Hopefully as I get familiar I'll be more productive. And I really hope library support is good.
