i'm very fascinated by more recent developments in these malware attempts there's such a huge boom in late zoomers who didn't get a real laptop/pc until very recently, and i've noticed a *lot* of tricks, this included, designed to prey on them not knowing the usual quirks of a desktop experience

well THAT'S a first this gizmodo page has a "captcha" that's actually malware aimed at mac users!

like, these are several steps too many for your grandparents, who wouldn't know what that second step could possibly be telling them to do but lots of late zoomers only how to use laptops through *someone else* online telling them exactly what to do. a lot of them would fall for this!

to give you an idea here: a lot of late zoomers think using a game emulator is too complicated because you have to open a computer file they believe this to be such an arduous task that they'll get themselves hacked downloading and opening suspicious .exe files if it means skipping that step

it's easy to make fun of them, but if you grew up exclusively on iphones and maybe a locked-down chromebook, you would've only known of walled gardens until that exact moment. you'd have no prior knowledge that downloading an application could be bad for you
