Downloaded 10,000 citations from recent English Wikipedia Good Article candidates and their non-English same-topic counterparts. Only 61% fetchable, between 404s, paywalls, botwalls, etc. Not great.

Sounds pretty good to me, the whole concept of web link being essentially broken by design for non-ephemeral use. Are there activists doing systematic cleanups on wikipedia? For personal use I've mostly switched to keeping PDF snapshots of interesting pages instead of links.

Can probably bring this number up some, and in the grand scheme of Wikipedia 10,000 citations counts as a small sample size. But still not great.
