i really wish that you could not own a smart tv in today's world, but the only way you can do this is by getting a tv that's designed for commercial services and 24/7 operation with a shit picture...

I wonder how feasible it is to jailbreak my current smart TV so it simply just fucking boots from HDMI by default like a giant monitor

i kinda wish i could just replace the whole compute unit inside the tv so all it can do is be a normal tv, then i get to bypass all of the OS initialization stuff that's needed and i only need to worry about initializing the display... those commercial displays let you do this

I managed to buy an lg tv from like 2013 and i love it. it has a 55 inch ips panel and actually good speakers because they weren't obsessed with making the tv as thin as paper back then. only downside is that it's 1080p instead of 4k, but i don't see the difference personally. also it is "smart" but

you can completely ignore this function and use it like a normal tv. I would never dare put this fossil online though lol. I just have an old laptop plugged into it for jellyfin or youtube, but it could also be a google tv/roku/apple tv/fire tv thing
