tailscale's taildrop feature could be so awesome to use instead of anything else for moving files but it feels so cumbersome on linux... what do you mean everything else just nicely goes into your downloads and linux requires you to open a terminal to do `tailscale get .`?

i get that it's "in alpha" but it's also been out for over 2 years at this point and it hasn't felt like anything has happened to it and tailscale is instead focusing on other parts of it...

kind of upset that things are moving more towards "make 20 billion half-baked features" rather than "make existing features better for everyone" but i suppose that's just to be expected for a VC startup

5 years actually. Yes, sorry. On the up side the current implementation should avoid the possibility of privilege escalation bugs. But yes, it was an early experiment that we haven’t had time to polish fully. Too many bugs/feature requests, too little time. It’s not really VC related.

Tailscale often gets credit for all its “just works!” feel, but actually there’s a ton of stuff that does not yet just work. Making parts just work is actually most of the work.
