The former boss of Germany's most important intelligence agency, the BND, has been arrested on suspicion of treason.

Huh. Imagine if we enforced treason laws in the Untied States? Nearly the entire administration would be arrested. We can dream, right? 🇺🇸

Surely slowly we can recognise a pattern here? It's becoming frustratingly obvious and yet many still refuse to see anything is connected.

Most democracies have treasonous members in high positions, and the sooner we root them out and execute justice, the better. Look at the US, with its issues in the executive, Supreme Court, and Congress. Plenty to of targets

The accusations are pretty crazy. According to media reports, the former spy chief paid his former chief of staff (who stayed at the BND until this year) to receive classified information after he left the agency. That's already a big problem, but it gets worse. www.tagesschau.de/investigativ...

Not only did Germany's former spy chief allegedly pay for the classified information, he then supposedly used it to create analyses for another (unnamed) foreign intelligence agency. Further, he used some of the information when talking to a foreign agent. This is bad, bad, bad. Very bad.

And it gets worse: Of the roughly 2,000 classified documents that he received, many were briefings for the Chancellery. Topics included Russia's military and the Iranian nuclear programme and according to the media, some of the information came from friendly intelligence agencies

In the intelligence world, this is pretty close to the worst-case scenario (if true). Friendly intelligence agencies give information to the BND, a senior BND official sells it to the former BND chief and he then turns around and gives it to whoever. It could be worse, but not much

so they are not naming the country he was working for but specifically say it's not Russia. does this also mean it's not one of Russia's satellite countries? or Russia's allies who'll share the info with Russia? this kind of half-info just creates more confusion and suspicion.
