I call it Long Crisis - a lingering after-effect of quantitative easing put in place precisely because Wall Street destroyed our economy. And asset manager capitalism drove the financial precarity that makes normal people make dumb investment decisions. And oligarchy loosening SEC registration rules

Historically the safe bet is that any given drug candidate for Alzheimer's will not pass phase 2 trials. It's one of the most notorious drug-candidate graveyards in the pharma field. Even the anti-amyloids donanemab and lecanemab, which got FDA approval to go to market, arguably failed phase 2.

Companies keep going after it because a company that finally comes up with an Alzheimer's drug that *actually works* will be able to charge basically anything they want for it.

Derek Lowe has written several blog posts about this and the overwhelming pharma-industry lust in the face of all experience to get *any* drug to market as "a drug against Alzheimer's". It's no surprise that the money Ramaswamy made off this one was made basically by misrepresenting studies.

“Ramaswamy had co-published two analyses on intepirdine despite having no experience conducting clinical trials, an investigation by Oligarch Watch found.“ Wow. Why did anyone invest given she was NOT scientist? So much greed.
