Had another instance of Cinnamon going into fallback mode when I booted my computer up this morning. While previously I would have just ignored it (since it fixes itself after restarting Cinnamon), these days I point Claude at all the little papercuts I get while running Linux.

Claude ended up finding a null pointer dereference in `libcvc`, and was able to confirm that GNOME's `libgnome-volume-control` has the same bug.

I'm always a bit nervous when reporting/fixing issues using Claude in projects I haven't interacted with before, as I don't want to contribute to the problem of open-source maintainers unknowingly interacting with LLM output. So I have a personal rule of disclosing the use as much as possible.
