TIL Microsoft doesn't have a mechanism for parents to reset their children's forgotten passwords. I wish I were amazed, but I'd wager no one involved in creating the Family Safety Center actually has children.

You can try account recovery, but even with access to a parent's account they can still tell you "no, you don't get to recover the account." Sorry kid, you can't play Minecraft with your friends. Microsoft wants you to learn a lesson about password management.
