Is it safe to mention AI here now or will people call me a dumbass? No snark, genuine question. Main thing on my mind right now is how programming is changing and I love to talk about it. But I don't have the energy to fight over it.

I have mixed feelings about AI. It’s a bit like tailored clothes vs machine-made ones both work, but the vibe is different. Using Claude isn’t wrong at all, but when 50k+ lines are written that way, it becomes hard for a human brain to truly digest it at that pace.

The only way to make sense of it is to lossy-compress focus on getting the high-level ideas right rather than every detail.

frankly im concerned about ai it's such a powerful tool, why wouldnt you use it? but a lot of the tooling that we depend on - to e.g., review code, etc - isnt keeping pace. we as humans especially cant keep pace. so what do we do? rely on ai to review ai code. a circular dependency.
