sonic 3's development is just crazy to me because, by like november 3rd it was barely a finished game, the special stage was still a tech demo, music wasn't even finalized, and just in like 17 days they had finalized everything

like,, look at his pallete, look at his everything,,,, look at it,,, it's so prototype

The even more depressing part, is that the soundtrack from the prototype was used as a basis for the Sonic Origins re-release of Sonic 3&K. Gotta miss the original intended tracks. I don't find the prototype music terrible. It just doesn't hit the same way as the final tracks.

That's fair, I think the only one that I found I liked a little more was Ice Cap's music, aside from that I can see what you mean.

And while I could say that is my opinion, many others have stated similar stuff about the use of prototype tracks in SO. Though, to be fair to SEGA, the prototype tracks are consistent with other zones as it comes to the percussion. Also, I generally find game prototypes fascinating.

There's nothing like seeing an earlier, unfinished build of a game you played as a kid, and seeing the various changes that happened between it and the final release. You would often find content that didn't make it to the final release.
