I miss all the websites covered in gifs, 100 different typographic styles, playing a midi file. They weren't beautiful, they weren't particularly technically competent, but they were a labour of love by someone who wanted to share something honest about themselves.

What's your favorite homemade-website quirk that modern design killed? For me it's the guestbook. Genuinely think we should bring those back.
