personally I think it's a very big deal that the Canada bureau chief for the @nytimes.com — certainly one of the highest-paid journalists in the country — asked an unspecified "AI tool" what Poilievre said & published its AI-hallucinated quotes in her reporting.

Can you tell us the source of this quote you include from Poilievre? I have looked up speeches he gave in March and can't find him saying this. "If these turncoats have any shred of integrity left, they should resign their seats tonight and run in a by-election tomorrow"

I do remember him saying floor-crossers should resign and trigger a new election... Which is pretty hypocritical, since P.P. celebrated the bravery it took for every single floor-crosser to abandon their party and join the Cons since Harper's majority.

He probably did say it; he says all kinds of stupid or offensive stuff. Expanding the Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport has "an enormous environmental benefit" because it would reduce car traffic was something he said just recently.
