these are upgrades. i wanted a way for players to steadily improve without needing to buy the new rods, and i was initially against adding straight upgrades like from the previous game but i found a way to implement it in a way i like. #gamedev

additionally, depending on which npcs you talk to, you may find some new ones. for example, there's another npc offering a charm that will grant trophy fish chance which may help you out!
