The more I debate awful, awful AI bros, the more I've come to appreciate that intent really is the core difference between consuming and creating.

This is something that people without illustration experience tend not to see: every single thing in an image was put there with intention, nothing can be incidental. A writer says "the car," but an illustrator says exactly what model, inside and out, from every angle, and it's not optional.

There is a woman I know who uses AI to produce graphics. She has no traditional graphics skills. On one hand, I don't know if I have the right to tell her that she can't get the ideas in her head out onto a screen. I don't want to use those tools as I want MY picture in MY head on the screen.

I don't debate them any more as I'm putting my point across and they are putting what I type into a prompt and getting ChatGPT to 'argue' with me. They are just copying and pasting everything and I find it supremely creepy at best.

I stopped engaging with people on linkedin because of this. It's amazing how you can *instantly* tell that's what they're doing, though.

2 minutes after I told them my viewpoint on this, I got back 4 paragraphs of text with bullet points. I realised that I was indirectly arguing with a machine. That this person could not function in a casual conversation without a connection to a prompt was scary. Like a human-machine hybrid.

My Son said to open a chat GPT prompt and feed her answers into it and let the machines argue with each other. While entertaining on one level, I found the whole concept more than a bit 'ick'.
