I'm not just mad about this shit because I'm tired of seeing it (tho I am) It is scary to me that people legitimately don't seem to understand enough to know that 20% of the population of Texas voted for Trump. That is it. Out of every 5 people in Texas, 4 did not vote for this.

Texas has historically had low voter turnout, even in the Jim Crow days. It appears to be a cultural issue for some in the state to let the bosses handle things. Add in actual racist vote suppression and you get the state legislature.

To be clear, I’m not saying the citizens of Texas should suffer because their government is horribly corrupt and racist. Every citizen and resident deserves safety

I think the phrase "bothered to vote" is a little judgmental when you look at how aggressively Texas tried to suppress the vote in 2024. There are absolutely people who didn't bother. But plenty tried and were discouraged, thwarted, or just had their ballots literally thrown out.
