I had to watch Alabama's ban on gender affirming care for minors go into effect. It impacted multiple people in my life. It is cruel beyond words. Pick up the phone. Call all of your reps. Don't tell me it won't matter--I call Tommy Tuberville. EVERY FUCKIN' TIME. I won't gift them silence on this.

This is possibly the most significant attack on trans rights in this country yet, and I can count the number of posts on my timeline about this on my hands. If you're trying to dismiss this thinking "It'll die in the senate," DON'T! Sound the alarms now!

Don't say "it will die in the senate" Say "I will kill it in the senate" And then call them. It takes so few calls, comparatively, to make it feel like a wave crashing over them. We need to be the wave, again and again.

(I call Katie Britt too, but I mean as bad as she is, I'm not sure anything is as bad as having to call Tommy fucking Tuberville and listen to his answering machine thank me for calling the coach.)

When you write 'gender affirming care' for minors. I think hormones, puberty blockers, psychiatric (best case) and / or community counselling (damaging) and I am scared for children. Being gay, I know trans people, and accept them for who they are. Trans people.

I am so, so sorry, Bree. Please also consider lobbying the American Medical Association and asking the ACLU if they will take a class action case against lawmakers who are assuming medical knowledge and authority over that of qualified doctors.
