I recognize that there are otherwise good people that have been captured by the stupidity and existential fear of religion.

A lot of (most) religious beliefs are supremely ridiculous but many are not represented well by their most insane representatives. Some have reasons for believing that we may never understand but there are many religious ppl who are just working with a totally different set of rules and priorities.

Be honest. The vast majority of religious people are religious because they were forced to be by their parents/community or were preyed on when they were in a highly vulnerable state. It’s very rare that I come across someone that doesn’t apply to.

We need to fundamentally press the point that Christ's message was a brotherhood of mankind here on earth that is synonymous with our humistic goals. Their eschatological beliefs are whats deviding us, and that is purposefully implemented by those in power so they dont ask for equity in this life.
