“No child belongs in a detention center.”
I was 14 when a classmate of mine killed two children with nunchucks. So I don't think one can make “no child” an absolute. Sometimes a child can commit a crime serious enough that secure detention is necessary.
I'm sorry for mentioning this, Marianne. It's an awful memory.
He killed an 11-year-old and a 9-year-old, strangling them with homemade nunchucks. Their older brother was a friend I grew up playing hockey with, and he was also in our French class.
It was brutal, and the memory still haunts me.
No one, regardless of age, deserves to be in trump concentration camps, where the inhumane treatment and abuse are well-documented by civil rights groups, Congress, even inmates themselves. Stashing people in these hell holes begs the question: how are these cesspools allowed to continue operating?
