The more AI I use for writing code, the more I come to the conclusion that this is doing the wrong thing faster. AI Coding for prototyping, learning, reviewing is great. For everything else, it leaves developers with complex indirections, hand-rolled duplications and an unmaintainable blob.

I call it the "ad-hoc-i-fication" of software development. A lot of things that had proper commonly agreed on solutions (aka libraries) before are now made in an ad-hoc fashion and - worse than what existed.

prototyping is fine. the damage starts when the prototype gets a ticket number and never gets rewritten by someone who understands it.
