Given the tenor of the times, good journalism would have at a minimum mentioned some details about the other car. Better journalism would have addressed the investigation. Anything involving a notable figure at this point is going to appear suspicious.

Alaska isn't normal. There are hazards unmatched in the lower 48. Travel in Alaska comes with risks and can never be made safe. Anyone attempting to travel the whole state is taking risks. People still disappear, run afoul with moose and bears. Boats sink, planes go down in inaccessible places

Ocean currents flow at 7 knots as tides fluctuate 20 ft daily. The 35 degree water causes bodies to sink. Hypothermia sets in within 5 minutes of immersion. Mosquitoes will drive you crazy, although the 1st frost has happened so they're gone till spring. And, you can still have a traffic accident
