Generous hitboxes are part of the bullet hell secret sauce, but Deathsmiles frequently pushes things to "I'm alive but I don't know how" territory. In this clip, I let myself get pushed to the side of the screen and stay glued to shot instead of bombing when bullets expand in my face, yet I survive.

October is the month for spooky shmups! People say that Deathsmiles is a perfect shmup for beginners to the genre, and I agree to a point--that point being a 1CC on normal. Once I hit Death Mode, the difficulty spike was so steep it felt like a different game entirely.
