TIL that it takes 10 weeks (!!) to start building muscle with weight lifting. First 3 weeks are mostly repairing damage, so size = swelling, not muscle growth. Gonna say it again. I believe doing the simple, difficult, compounding thing over time is almost always the answer to "what should I do?"

this is not true. swelling = bloodflow, repairing damage (?) is literally how muscles grow. if youve got bloodflow to the muscle (swelling) and microtears being repaired, you are almost certainly building muscle so long as you are eating a caloric surplus. ESPECIALLY in your first few months.

the first paper has nothing to do with your claim, and the third says its contradictory to established theory in the beginning "It has been proposed that skeletal muscle shows signs of resistance training (RT)-induced muscle hypertrophy much earlier (i.e., ~3–4 weeks of RT) than previously thought"

so I guess check any paper that study cites (I cant see the full text) or just google "noob gains" since this is a very well known phenomenon and its going to take a lot more than a single paper to change decades of scientific precedent
