I once had an interviewee show up 10 minutes late. Her neighbor’s dog had gotten loose so she stopped to help wrangle him. Then she had to change her outfit because he was muddy. She got the job.

She was one of our best hires - always willing to help others, didn’t mind doing tough jobs, and was never late again. And she obviously loved dogs.
