We had this conversation before but I think it’s important to realise that many operators _want_ telemetry, but until there is equivalent tooling to librenms out there for it, people will need lowest common denominator.

We had a lot of good examples to work with when deploying our SRL telemetry, thanks to the work you guys put in up front. Other vendors have done little to nothing here and so being able to make the switch and deprecating the snmp based tooling is really challenging.

Enabling the legacy enables you to sell to people who can’t invest the time in telemetry on their existing estate. I appreciate the effort, but hopefully someone will now help the community map all the pertinent fields so that SRL can load into librenms etc cleanly (it’s messy today).

What bits does librenms need? I think we have most standard mibs pieces already
