I was a kid who had chronic illness (stomach issues). Yes… perfect attendance awards ARE ableist. They’re a reward for “never getting sick” or “going to school even if you are sick.” It is an award for not being disabled. That’s ableist.

I got PA a few times. I never saw the point of it, never felt particularly proud of it.

Only reason *I got those awards was because my parents sent me to school, sick or not, and because I often said I *wasn't sick just to escape being abused at home during the daytime....😟 I *hated Fridays. I'm experiencing and battling this crappy ableism with my own kids now. I'm MamaBear though. ❤️‍🔥
