My AI enthusiasm ebbs and flows. Today I’m realizing that some of my perceived productivity increase is an illusion. I merely moved some of the effort from writing code to having to micromanage a coder.

There is still a very real productivity gain but it’s also extremely easy to overestimate it.

The productivity gain would be larger if you had lower standards and fewer opinions going in. Alas, I am who I am.

I’m now at the point where I will attempt Fable for everything which will blow through my $100 Max plan but if it improves or eliminates the micromanaging I need with Opus, may well be worth $200.

(And yes I know these Max plans for individuals are insanely subsidized, but it’s still an open question which is best value for me as they stand.)

<shill> Consider GH Copilot so you can switch between Anthropic and OpenAI models? </shill> I find I have been having better luck with GPT 5.6 Sol and Terra lately.

So I have considered but my my math the tokens I’d get would be too few. Challenges to this *most* welcome. I actually miss copilot!
