Tough pill: Yesterday on twitter the algorithm served me thoughtful debate about cybersecurity, AI safety research, and the distinction between them. And the algorithm here drew me into a fight over whether one person can use AI to make a prototype for a difficult feature in software they give away.

bsky doesn’t have an algorithm. It’s just the people you follow, in order. We gotta appreciate that mobs don’t need an algorithm and there isn’t a technical fix

which of the 1000+ algorithms here did you choose that drew you into a fight? and how thoughtful can the debate about cybersecurity be when it's among people who are missing the massive cybersecurity issues of *being on X*? twitter is dead BTW, maybe stop pretending it's still the same thing

Sounds like you ideologically align with the other platform more. There's plenty of good development and cybersecurity conversation that happens here, with a healthy amount of AI skepticism because the reality is the tech causes real harm. Chiding bsky for not bowing to tech overlords is a choice.

The truth is I feel homeless now. I left Twitter for 3 years because I couldn’t stand what happened there. I am not actually even a little bit AI shill, but there are really meaningful conversations on AI and safety happening on Twitter and I haven’t found them as much here yet. I’ll keep looking.

try the AI knowers list as a place to start; the actual difference here is you have to put some work into finding the right space here because there is no single algorithm

Honest answer is you might not find it here. There's plenty of technical folks around but most, not all, skew anti-AI. I generally engage on the technical aspects of AI on Reddit, and join the folks here for the social impact, lementing on how it's used and the over-saturation of data centers.
