Socks for #showmeyourknits I recently finished my first pair of socks that fit well enough to actually wear them like normal socks! It was A LOT of trial and error over several years ๐Ÿ˜… #knitsky

It's Style Craft "head over heels, walking in nature" (which is a bit of a long name ๐Ÿ˜…). I think the colour is "skip" I got it just because it was on sale for cheap but it's really nice. I love an interesting self-patterning yarn.

No actual pattern - just endlessly trying different needle sizes, number of stitches and toe / heel types until something fit ๐Ÿ˜… Toe up and I used a short row heel pattern (fish lips kiss heel) for both the toe and heel. 2mm needles and then a small gusset of about 10 stitches around the heel.

Thanks... You are miles ahead of my knitting level : ) Have seen ways of calculating stitches for a sock, after measuring the foot, but haven't had the courage to try yet... Had a real struggle initially, even w/a pattern (The Infinite Mystery Of Gussets), but finally completed some : ) Enjoy! ๐Ÿงถ

I tried following a few patterns and the calculators but just ended up with socks that were too long or very gappy. I'm really hoping I wrote down what I did for these somewhere ๐Ÿ˜…

I made one sock before summer and then it was too hot to even think about the other until last week. I can see in the photo I bound off differently on each ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ I'm hoping I wrote down the actual stitch counts somewhere and that I find that again!
