according to fucking whom? "You will own nothing" is still bad when nintendo does it, and a little card that says "trust me bro" isn't the same as a physical game. Get outta here with this nonsense
I think they do. When games are on the cart/disc, they can be easily preserved.
When games are digital or use key cards, it is difficult to preserve them because you are reliant on the store being up do download the game data.
I'd personally argue digital preservation is way easier.
I can download all of my Switch games onto an SD card and even copy that data without any issues, not needing to rely on the servers at all.
Since GKC games are always available digitally it doesn't impact any preservation effort.
At least you can still sell them. I'd rather have a pseudo-physical game than a digital one that I'm stuck with forever and lose if I lose the account or the company decides to take it away. I don't think preservation will end. Consoles will still get hacked and people will still save the games.
totally agreed... BUT slightly good news, physical game sales are on the rise! hopefully it's because of how bad game key cards left such a bad impression...
For SERIOUS. Suddenly this went from the fashionable thing to bitch about to Nintendo being ahead of the curve as always and doing Sony and M$ one better!!
The headline is intended to be sarcastic, guys
"Don't get us wrong, we're not about to shout its praises from the rooftops, but it's at least something tangible that you can hold and share and sell. Sony, from 2028, will be offering none of that."
nope game key cards are STILL bad! I'd rather by digital if there was a game I literally can't live without...
BUT usually I'd just NOT buy the game... I REALLY wanted to play Pragmata, Bravely Default, and others but NOT buying them on a GKC or digitally in protest.
