Remembering is a crime apparently. Ukraine’s skeleton racer Vladyslav Heraskevych was disqualified from the Milano Cortina Winter Olympics after wearing a helmet depicting Ukrainian athletes killed since Russia’s 2022 invasion. His team plans to appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport. #Ukraine

"IOC" stands for "International Orc Commitee"

🤨 A Russian flag passed—but a Ukrainian memorial was banned at the Olympics. Italian snowboarder Roland Fischnaller faced no penalty, while the IOC blocked Vladyslav Heraskevych from honoring athletes killed by Russia.

So they can quote that entire block of text from IBSF Article 1, but they can't bother quoting the text from the Olympic Charter that defines the helmet as "inconsistent with the Olympic Charter and Guidelines on Athlete Expression"? One word: Incompetence. Ok, two words: Corrupt.

It's a sad decision for Ukraine, for Heraskevych, and for the athletes who were murdered. But it's a big topic in the news. The helmet might be more popular now than if they had let him compete with it. He stood proud. He made the right decision. Slava Vladyslav!

so "propaganda" in a form of remembering those who died is forbidden, but actual propaganda in terms of serving self-presentation of authoritarian regimes organizing games is fine according to IOC
