Today, we’re going back to basics: the building blocks of Notion 🧱 If you’re just getting started or want a refresher, blocks are the building blocks (literally) of almost everything you create in Notion, from simple pages to complex workflows. Here’s what you need to know 🧵

First things first: What’s a block? In Notion, almost everything is a block. - A paragraph of text? That’s a block. - An image? Block. - To-do lists, embeds, databases? Yep, all blocks. It’s like Lego, but for your ideas 🧱

Blocks are flexible. You can: ✅ Turn one block into another—like text into a to-do list ✅ Rearrange them with drag-and-drop ✅ Nest them inside each other for structure It’s how you can build anything in Notion, step by step.

A few common ones you’ll use every day: 🔹 Text blocks for writing notes, thoughts, or plans 🔹 Headings to add structure and clarity 🔹 To-do lists for tasks you need to get done 🔹 Images or embeds for visuals and context

Adding blocks is simple. Just hit / (the slash key) to open the menu and search for what you need. /heading → Add a heading /image → Embed an image /toggle → Create collapsible lists

Notion can get complex, but understanding the basics makes it easier to build anything and bring your ideas to life. Next time we’ll run through the basics of databases. What else do you want us to cover? Let us know!
