Pete Hegseth wanted to look like an action hero in front of the other Trump appointees on the Signal chat. He did give one thought about the safety of the pilots that were tasked with flying into harm's way.

He won’t resign and Trump won’t fire him. If congress wanted to regain their standing as an independent branch, they would begin impeachment proceedings. People need to pressure their representatives to do their duty.
