.... A NOAA budget document for the coming fiscal year would eliminate funding for the Office of Oceanic and Atmospheric Research and the National Severe Storms Lab, both .... doing vital research and modeling of severe weather. But billionaires get a tax break. 🤷🏻‍♀️

To date; 79 people dead, 11 campers still missing. 🚨 If you are still searching for a loved one in Texas, please call the Red Cross at 1-800-733-2767 for more information.

Gov. Abbott blaming NWS in spite of their “exceedingly rare” “flash flood emergency” warnings. 🤬 Per Abbott: "The problem with that is that… they deal with flash floods all the time. There's the potential for flash flooding, but there's no expectation of a water wall of almost thirty feet high." 😒

guy in charge of area that flooded so tragically claimed in carefully worded statement weather reports never said would rain hard in his particular area. But if his area is downstream of areas predicted to receive torrential downpours, where did he expect that water to go? ‘I take no responsibility’

“A spokesperson for the National Weather Service (NWS), however, noted that the agency held forecast briefings for emergency officials on Thursday, issued a flood watch on Thursday and sent out flash flood warnings Thursday evening and Friday morning.”

We shouldn't just blame them, IMO. We should identify the root cause why warnings were either not delivered or not heeded, and then advocate for the issue to be fixed. That's the best way to separate "us" from "them." We try to fix a problem while they call for thoughts and prayers.

He is never responsible. “I’ll tell you, if you look at that, what a situation that all is. And that was really the Biden setup. That was not our setup,” Trump added. “But I wouldn’t blame Biden for it, either. I would just say this is a 100-year catastrophe, and it’s just so horrible to watch.”

State and local officials, who've repeatedly made it clear they think science is for losers. This is the unfortunate result. That even now, NPR carries water for these clowns might be just as sad.

GOP environmental policies contribute to these disasters, and their political policies ensure the government is ill prepared to meet these new realities. Now the question is will the media finally start to hold them responsible, or continue to let them deflect blame with just thoughts and prayers.

The ONLY reason we are second guessing this is because Trump, Musk and DOGE fired everyone at NOAA to prove experts don’t matter and are too expensive. This is just the beginning of second guessing, with bird flu, measles, whooping cough, RSV and a destroyed economy to face next.

"Among those who left was Paul Yura, who had been the warning coordination meteorologist at the NWS's Austin/San Antonio office. Yura spent more than half of his 32-year career in the office and took an early retirement offer in April, KXAN reported."

"According to the NWS, duties of a warning coordination meteorologist include acting as a liaison to public safety officials, including emergency managers, and providing government officials with information on severe weather."

"Some critics have questioned whether the storm's deadly impact was made worse by the Trump administration's ongoing effort to shrink the federal workforce, including job cuts at the NWS and its parent organization, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)."

The Republicans Serving in the House and Senate,Allowed the Trump Administration To Cut Funding For NOAA and National Parks Our Crown Jewel. These are Services that the American people Depend On To Protect and Serve. They put LOYALTY to Trump Over Working For The People.WE MUST HOLD THEM ACCOUNTABLE!

And MAGAs are swearing this tragedy will not alter their project 2025 agenda. They still think if MAGAs don't hear about extreme weather from global warming, they have nothing to worry about. MAGAs will downplay all catastrophies to convince MAGAs it's not that bad.

I don't see many people asking about the advisability of the county allowing a huge youth camp on a river known for frequent, dangerous flash flooding to the extent its nickname locally is "Flood Alley." What steps did the camp operators take to protect those kids? Where's county government in this?
