If we have 'npm create nuxt to initialize projects and that we can use 'nuxt' once node modules are installed, I'm not sure to understand when we will use 'nuxi' just when we need to upgrade to latest nuxt version?

Well it won’t be needed much as npx nuxt upgrade works. nuxi can be useful is you want the latest version of the CLI for running command which are not yet shipped on the Nuxt version
