The decision making process for creating the Roadless Rule was carried out in public, with intense scrutiny in scientific journals. One of the main issues was the ongoing sediment pollution of streams by so-called zombie roads- roads built for logging, poorly closed, and rarely maintained.

The USFS had nowhere near enough money to properly manage those legacy roads. I doubt USFS will bid sales at a price that will avoid a repeat of those poor decisions. Recinding the Roadless Rule is a taxpayer subsidy to the extractive industries.

This would solve no problem. Other than the mining and logging industry not making enough profits. But Trump is down with the wanton destruction of anything that is a social benefit. The destruction of anything that Trump can't capture for himself by buying it, to the exclusion of others.

The last person I spoke to, while canvassing in 2016, said she was voting for Jill Stein because her #1 issue was the environment. I listed the eco organizations that endorsed H.C. She said, "But Stein is with the Green party.". I think about that woman a lot.

NEW: Trump is moving to open 45 million acres of national forest to logging and development. 45 million. Acres. Land that belongs to you, that your grandparents protected, that nobody gets to replace. We just launched this. Tell Congress to stop him: actionnetwork.org/letters/tell...
