very interesting hearing the high level mission. I am really into more transparent and explainable computation. There is so much value in computational thinking beyond scalable stack building. Crisp computational thinking doesn't need a lot of code to form persuasive arguments

Thanks Tom! Definitely quality over quantity… Rage against complexity. Nothing makes me happier than deleting code.

I agree — the technology is genuinely enabling people to do new and great things, and your UX analysis hits the nail on the head. For me, two things hold me back: a fear of sharing internal data with a 3rd party, and the frustration of canvas being promoted but inaccessible.

That said, your vision really captures something I’ve felt for a while — that there’s huge value here, just waiting to be unlocked. The thoughts you shared reflect exactly that, and it’s what keeps me circling back whenever reporting and analysis come up in new projects.

observable helped me a lot a few years back, to learn and to formulate ideas. I logged in for a long time again. i had a hard time to find my way to the community... i found it under help -> inspirations.. a "featured" or more community focused dashboard would be cool, for the one-man-armies. 🫡

A reassuring podcast. Good to see the value of community recognised. This seems strongly aligned with what notebooks are best at - communication between people, using computation and vis as support. Increasing prominence of infrastructure like forums and trending notebooks would help here too.

Thanks, and yes! It’s been convenient to use Discourse for forums but I’ve always wished notebooks could be more seamlessly woven into discussions, and likewise the discussions integrated into the main site and more discoverable. It’s a lot to do but we’ll make it better.
