On 9/11, I was evacuated from the Capitol. Hours later, I walked past the burning Pentagon, trying to get home. I didn’t know it then, but that walk would shape the next 25 years of my life. Do you remember where you were that day? Never forget.

My daughter, in a Mustang stuffed with colleagues, was stuck in a traffic jam trying at the Capitol amid warnings of an incoming hijacked plane. I stayed on the phone with her until they were safely en route to our home. 1/2

Having already evacuated another child from her workplace not far from the Pentagon, I fretted for my son, whose college campus was near the Norfolk Naval Station, a rumored target. 2/2

I'd just joined Toastmasters. I was shy and nervous. A day or so after, my first assignment: give the inspiration... essentially either a prayer or something meaningful to set the tone. Tall order. The morning of, 3,000 miles away I was frantically trying to figure out where in NYC my nephew lived.

I just dropped off my first grader at school. I turned around and parked at his school trying to decide if I should get him out go pick up his sister at high school or let them stay. I was not the only parent there. We ultimately let them stay but I was pacing like crazy wanting them home. In CA.

I wish I could forget. Fucked up this country. I was blissfully unaware in organic chemistry class. Then came freedom fries. Mandatory 🇺🇸 lapel pins. 20+ years of Iraqistan. Taking off our shoes at the airport. And we’ve learned exactly nothing from a strategic POV. I’m a GWOT vet (medical)

Every second of it. I can play it back in my head like video. Ended up being the one to tell a visiting tourist what happened. She broke down b/c her son worked in one of the towers.

It was still early here on the West Coast when the first tower was hit. Turning on the TV to watch the morning news, eat breakfast and start my day, I wasn't prepared for what I saw. I never got dressed and went to work that day, I was glued to the TV. I went up to the top of one tower years before.

I woke in silicon valley, saw a huge headline that said "plane hits world trade center." . Pressed refresh, and the headline changed to "planes hit world trade center." At that instant, I knew that nothing would be the same.

I was traveling through Canada.Everytime I entered a hotel/restaurant while waiting for the NY airports to re-open every Canadian I came in contact with who knew I was American was very kind/compassionate/generous Sept 12 US ConsulateToronto Days later 80,0000 in Ottowa for moment of silence for USA

I was in China adopting my baby daughter. Saw the Towers fall on TV at 10pm at night. Chilling to be half way across the world when our country was under attack. Calls to my family who worked in NYC wouldn't go through. My flight home a few days later was one of the first allowed back in the country
